Man Ray for NARS "Love Game" Eyeshadow Palette Review

Writer's picture: Carina ElianeCarina Eliane

I was fortunate enough to be able to try out NARS limited MAN RAY for NARS "Love Game" eye shadow palette thanks to Sephora SG. This palette is inspired by the vibrant persona of Man Ray-muse Ady Fidel, who is the first African American model to be featured in a fashion magazine.

(If you're interested in fashion history and stuff read more about it here: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/25/style/tmagazine/25tmodel.html )

I might be a little late with this review due to many occasions happening. But I thought this palette was worth the wait. Without any further a due, here's the review by yours truly.

First of all I was in love with the packaging. In black and white, the whole thing gives me a very artistic, vintage look. When you open the palette, there's a total of 12 limited shades that all has warm undertones and only 2 cool undertones. The colors all are mostly easy and wearable colors. So there is no worry that this palette is going to waste when it's impossible to mess up with these colours.

12 Shades:

-Lady Killer (Matte Beige)

-Rendezvous (Orangey Gold)

-Dominant (Matte Pinkish Orange)

-Submissive (Matte Dark Olive)

-Your Move (Matte Yellowish Brown)

-Hard to Get (Metallic Orangey Brown)

-Tryst (Metallic Deep Gold)

-Dirty Talk (Metallic Soft Gold)

-Long Game (Shimmery Dark Navy Blue)

-Blind Date ((Shimmery Deep Plum)

-Play Me (Metallic Bronze)

-Momentum (Metallic Deep Green)

Each and every shadow color has different types of pigmentation and consistency. Some are better than others like some colors might start to fade after several hours of wear. But overall the palette was easy to work with and are buildable. I personally love the deep golden color "Tryst" as accent color, "Hard to Get" that blends well plus could be used as transition color and "Blind Date" that could be used on the outer corner of eye.

For the eye look that I created, I used "Lady Killer" as base. I take "Rendezvous" for the inner corner to the middle part of the eye. Then I use a combination of "Dominant" and "Hard to Get" on the middle to the outer corner of my eye to create a silhouette for the eye. Because I like a smokey look for my eye, I take "Blind Date" a deep plum colour and use it on the outer corner of my eye to create a subtle smokey affect.(Just put a generous amount for it is pigmented)

Now, that the essential part is done, I'd like to put a little shimmer or to the brow bone, just beneath the eyebrow. I use "Redezvous" making it as eye highlighter. To finish things off and making the eye pop, I never use eyeliner but I prefer to use darker shade of eyeshadow. "Play Time" is the perfect shade to use the outer part and ""Tryst" on the inner part. But if you want a more subtle look you can just skip the last part of doing the lower part of the eye. With this eye look, just use some eye liner and mascara and you are ready to slay your day.

Overall, the Man Ray for NARS Love Game eyeshadow palette is not disappointing at all. It is easy to use and I would recommend this palette if you like to go from a pretty natural look to a sexy smokey eye look from just using a single palette. Again, thank you Sephora SG and NARS for giving me the palette!
